A key indicator of an individual’s success as a leader in the workplace is the ability to effectively communicate.
Sometimes, though, different personality styles can make communicating more challenging. The best leaders learn how to use what they know about personality styles to better collaborate and communicate, which ultimately leads to their success.
What are DiSC Behavioral Styles?
There are four main behavioral personality styles outlined in the DiSC model. A DiSC Analysis is used to determine which style most encompasses an individual’s personality.
Most people are a combination of two personality styles – and many are a blend of all four styles. Your style may change throughout the day depending on your role (employee, parent, friend, etc.) and your environment (work, home, sporting event, gym, etc.)
These are the 4 personality styles identified through the DiSC Analysis:
- D – “Dominance” – This style is typically characterized by someone who is confident, outspoken, demanding, and prioritizes accomplishing results.
- I – “Influence” – A person with this personality style is often enthusiastic, optimistic, trusting, and believes that persuasion is important.
- S – “Steadiness” – Calm, deliberate, loyal, and sincere are words used to describe people with this personality style, along with a focus on cooperation.
- C – “Conscientiousness” – Individuals who identify with this style are detail-oriented and independent, and believe in the importance of quality and accuracy.
